12. Glossary

Short explanations of the terms used in GeoMarkup and this manual — in alphabetical order.

TermExplanation
AdminA role with full permissions: manages tasks, the team and workspace settings.
AnchorThe red pin marking a task’s main reference point on the map.
ArtifactThe shared name for tasks and notes — the things you create on the map.
AutosaveAutomatic saving of changes as you type, without clicking “Save” (e.g. in notes and settings).
AvatarA photo or coloured circle with an initial, representing a person (or workspace).
BasemapThe map background (e.g. road, satellite, topographic).
DashboardThe home page of a workspace with a task summary and statistics.
Editor (role)A role that allows creating and editing your own tasks and commenting, but not managing the team.
”(former member)“A note next to a person who has been removed from the team but still appears on their old tasks.
GeometryA drawing on the map linked to a task: a marker (point), line or shape.
InvitationA link sent by email that lets someone join a workspace. Valid for 7 days.
KanbanA task view as a board with columns matching the statuses.
NoteA lightweight jotting or observation; can be pinned to the map. Has no status or assignee.
OnboardingThe first steps after creating an account — including creating your first workspace.
OwnerThe person who created a workspace; has admin permissions and can delete the workspace. Marked with a crown.
PriorityHow urgent a task is: Low, Medium, High or Urgent.
RoleThe scope of a person’s permissions in a workspace: Admin, Editor or Viewer.
RWD”Responsive Web Design” — automatic adaptation of the look to the device (computer, tablet, phone).
SessionThe time you stay signed in. After a long idle period the session expires and you have to sign in again.
StatusA task’s stage: Pending, In Progress, Delayed or Completed.
TaskA piece of work to be done, pinned to a place on the map.
Viewer (role)A read-only role — you can view but not change.
WorkspaceYour space for projects and team collaboration.
AssigneeThe person responsible for a task.
RequirementA single item on a task’s checklist that you tick off when done.
